The Monument is up, but we are still raising money to help with other expenses related to the upkeep and maintenance of the memorial. “The Mission of the Colfax Memorial Organization is to fund, create and dedicate a fitting memorial for the men who fought for freedom that fateful day. Funds raised over the cost of the memorial will be used to provide scholarships for African American students in Colfax who desire to attend college and establish meaningful careers.”
The cost of the memorial was approximately $65,000, including the cost of purchasing and preparing the site for the memorial.
